Absolute

A highly concentrated odorous material obtained by treating a concrete, itself produced by solvent extraction of plant material, with ethanol. The absolute captures a floral scent of great fidelity, such as jasmine or rose, and is among the most precious ingredients in perfumery. Its richness makes it a marker of luxury in the signature scents of high-end hotels.
