Amaro

Amaro refers to a family of bitter Italian liqueurs made by macerating herbs, roots, barks and citrus in alcohol, then sweetening the result with sugar. Traditionally drunk as a digestif, this spirit fuels contemporary mixology, from the negroni sbagliato to variations on the boulevardier. Each house guards its own secret recipe, which explains the vast diversity of profiles, from light and floral to dense, liquorice-tinged and firmly bitter.
