Angostura bitters
Angostura is a brand of aromatic bitters created in 1824 by the physician Johann Siegert in the Venezuelan town of Angostura, now produced in Trinidad and Tobago. Its recipe remains secret and it is bottled at roughly forty-four percent alcohol. Recognisable by its oversized label, it seasons the Manhattan, the Old Fashioned and many classics through a few measured dashes.
