Brilliant cut
Benchmark round cut comprising fifty-seven facets, or fifty-eight when a culet is present. Engineered to maximise light return, it combines crown, girdle and pavilion in precise proportions. It is the most widespread cut for diamonds and serves as the standard of comparison. Palace jewellery windows make it the centrepiece of solitaire engagement rings, where its fire is most readily appreciated.
