Caudalie

The caudalie is the unit measuring a wine's length on the palate, drawn from the Latin cauda meaning tail, where one caudalie equals one second. It quantifies the intense aromatic persistence, that is the time over which flavours linger after swallowing or spitting. A typical wine counts between three and nine caudalies, while the most expressive cuvees can reach around twenty, a widely acknowledged marker of quality and finesse.
