Cellar humidity
Cellar humidity refers to the moisture level of the air where bottles rest. An ideal figure sits around seventy percent: it keeps corks supple and stops them drying out, which would let too much oxygen enter. A cellar that is too dry weakens the seal, while excessive humidity encourages mould and loosens labels. The stability of this level matters as much as its exact value for long-term storage.
