Champagne coupe

The champagne coupe is a wide, shallow glass, emblematic of early twentieth-century receptions. Its broad opening quickly disperses the effervescence and aromas, which makes it poorly suited to the attentive tasting of a fine champagne. It remains prized for its visual flair in festive cocktails and in stacked champagne towers. Technical service today prefers the flute or a tapered wine glass, keeping the coupe mainly for display and celebration.
