Champagne flute
The champagne flute is a narrow, elongated glass that slows the loss of gas and showcases the stream of bubbles rising to the surface. Its small opening concentrates the chill but restrains the aromatic expression of complex cuvees. For that reason many sommeliers favour a fuller wine glass for prestige champagnes. It contrasts with the wide, shallow coupe, once fashionable, which dissipates the effervescence far too quickly to be ideal.
