Char bagh

A Persian and Mughal garden of quadripartite plan, divided into four parterres by paths and water channels that cross at the centre. The char bagh, whose name means four gardens, evokes the paradise described in Quranic texts. This ordered geometry structures the gardens of the Taj Mahal and Mughal palaces, and inspires the symmetrical parks of South Asian heritage palace hotels, where axial water and greenery frame the architecture.
