Chukka

A timed period of play in a polo match. A game is divided into four, five or six chukkas, each lasting roughly seven and a half minutes, with the European standard set at four. Players change ponies between chukkas to spare the horses from fatigue. Resorts and country clubs with polo grounds frequently host members' chukka afternoons, pairing the sport with hospitality programmes for guests and patrons.
