Eduard and Anna Sacher

Eduard Sacher (1843-1892), son of Franz Sacher who created the Sachertorte, opened the Hotel Sacher in Vienna in 1876, near the Opera. His wife Anna Sacher (1859-1930) took charge after his death in 1892 and, over nearly four decades, famous for her cigars and French bulldogs, made the Sacher the gathering place of Viennese high society.
