Estate bottling

['estate bottling', 'mise en bouteille au domaine']

Estate bottling designates the bottling of wine directly by the producer on the production estate, as opposed to bulk sale to a negociant who bottles under their own name. This practice, become common since the 1960s, guarantees complete traceability from vine to bottle and constitutes a quality marker in consumer and sommelier perception. Large Burgundy and Bordeaux estates almost systematically carry out estate bottling. The label mention is strictly regulated and controlled by customs and INAO (Source: INAO, 2026).
