Fish knife
A fish knife is a piece of flatware with a broad, flat blade lacking any sharp cutting edge, its shape recalling a spatula or trowel. The blade is designed not for cutting but for lifting fillets and easing the flesh from the bone, a notch near the tip aiding this movement. Introduced in the Victorian era, it is set to the right of the plate with its matching fork and always accompanies a fish course in careful dining.
