Grenache

Grenache is a red grape most likely originating in Aragon, Spain, where it is called Garnacha. A mainstay of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Cotes du Rhone blends, it thrives in heat and drought. Light in colour yet high in alcohol, it produces generous, soft-tannined wines redolent of strawberry, raspberry, sweet spice and garrigue scrub. It frequently anchors the GSM blend alongside Syrah and Mourvedre in the southern Rhone.
