Haveli

A grand traditional mansion of India and Pakistan, organised around one or more interior courtyards. Emerging at the end of the sixteenth century under Mughal influence, the haveli fuses indigenous, Persian, Islamic and Central Asian traditions. The fresco-adorned havelis of the Shekhawati and Marwar regions, built by wealthy merchants, are today reconverted into refined heritage hotels across Rajasthan, preserving painted facades and carved courtyards for guests.
