Hermitage

Hermitage is an appellation in the northern Rhône Valley, on the commune of Tain-l'Hermitage, set on a granite hill overlooking the river. It produces mainly syrah reds, to which a limited addition of white marsanne and roussanne is permitted, along with dry whites from those same grapes. Its reds rank among the most powerful and long lived of the northern Rhône, capable of decades of ageing.
