Housekeeping

Housekeeping is the department that keeps your room and the hotel clean, room attendants, supervisors, public area cleaners, and the laundry team. A 150-room luxury hotel typically employs 35-50 housekeeping staff, making it the largest department. Standards have tightened significantly since 2020: many hotels now use UV-C lights or electrostatic sprayers on top of regular cleaning, and you may notice a paper seal across the door confirming the room was cleaned and unentered. If you don't want service on a given day, hang the "Do Not Disturb" tag, it saves resources and the staff appreciates clear communication. A "Service Please" tag means come now.
