Resume Builder found that 28 percent of US remote workers admitted doing it at least once in 2024. Hotels catering to hush trippers offer neutral video-call backgrounds (so the colleagues do not see the pool), strong noise suppression on the Wi-Fi conference line, and a check-in that does not feature signage in the lobby. The practice is legally grey: it can breach tax residency rules and corporate IT policies, which is why it stays quiet.
