Malbec

Malbec is a red grape native to South-West France, where it dominates the wines of Cahors under the local name Cot. Brought to Argentina in the nineteenth century, it became that country's signature variety, especially in the high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza. It produces deeply coloured, fleshy wines with supple tannins and aromas of plum, blackberry, violet and cocoa, taking on a plusher, more velvety texture in Argentina.
