Mount Nelson (Cape Town)
The Mount Nelson is a Cape Town grand hotel in South Africa, opened on 6 March 1899 to receive first-class passengers of the Union-Castle shipping line. Bought by shipping magnate Sir Donald Currie, it was the first in Africa to offer hot and cold running water in every room. Nicknamed the Pink Lady, it was painted pink by its Italian manager Aldo Renato in 1918.
