Orange wine (skin contact)
Orange wine, or extended skin-contact white, is a white wine vinified like a red, with the juice left in prolonged contact with the skins and sometimes the stems. This maceration, lasting from several days to several months, extracts colour, tannin and aroma, producing an amber hue and a structured texture. Rooted in the Georgian qvevri tradition, the method has seen a modern revival, notably in Italy's Friuli and in Slovenia.
