Pavé

Setting technique bringing many small stones close together, held by fine metal beads, so that the surface appears entirely paved with gems. The term comes from the French pavé, meaning cobbled. By reducing visible metal, paving produces a continuous shimmer across a ring, bracelet or curved surface. It ranks among the signature skills of palace high jewellery houses and their master setters.
