Polo pony

A horse trained specifically for polo, the term pony being traditional rather than a true size limit. Selected for speed, agility, temperament and handiness, it turns and accelerates on command. Because a player changes mount each chukka, a sizeable string is required. Resorts and polo clubs keep dedicated stables and sometimes hire polo ponies to playing guests, a service central to their equestrian hospitality offering.
