Pre-arrival communication
Pre-arrival communication is the email or message you receive from a luxury hotel a few days before your stay, usually 3-7 days out. It's not just a confirmation: it's typically a personal note from a named concierge asking about your preferences (pillow type, dietary restrictions, allergies, preferred newspaper, occasion for the trip), offering to make restaurant or spa bookings, and confirming arrival logistics. Sometimes it's followed by a phone call for VIP guests. The whole point is to gather information so the hotel can pre-set your room before you arrive. Best practice as a guest: respond honestly and specifically. If you're celebrating an anniversary, say so. If you have allergies, list them. The more you share, the better your stay feels.
