Presenting the bill

Presenting the bill refers to the discreet protocol by which the check is delivered at the end of a meal. Never announced aloud, it is placed in a closed folder, face down, at the host's setting or at the centre of the table when the host is uncertain. Staff then step away to give the guest time to settle it without pressure, preserving the elegance of the final moments spent at the table.
