Booking a professional chef to come to your home, villa or yacht and cook a tailored meal there. Specialist platforms (Take a Chef, Chef Avenue, Cookening Premium) list everyone from young talent to active or retired starred chefs, with hourly rates from EUR 80 to 600 plus ingredients at cost. The segment exploded during the 2020-2021 pandemic and then structured itself as an alternative to starred restaurants for groups of 6 to 30 guests. Since 2023, palace hotels have started bundling private chefs into their villa packages, partnering with their own chefs or local Michelin names willing to do off-site work between services.
