The Ritz Paris is a palace hotel overlooking the Place Vendôme in the first arrondissement, founded by Swiss hotelier César Ritz and opened on 1 June 1898 with chef Auguste Escoffier. Set at 15 Place Vendôme in the former Hôtel de Gramont, it was among the first hotels in the world to provide electricity, a telephone and a private bathroom in every room.
