Signature spa
A signature spa is a hotel spa with its own distinctive philosophy, signature treatments and exclusive product line, not just a generic massage room. The big ones have their own brand identity: Guerlain Spa at Le Royal Monceau in Paris, La Prairie Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Sisley Spa at Six Senses, the Chenot Method at Palace Merano in Italy, and Lanserhof method at Lanserhof Tegernsee in Germany. Each one has its own treatment menu, often co-developed with a cosmetics company or a medical clinic, and serious destination-spa places use them as their main marketing hook. A real signature spa runs €5-25 million to build out and takes 7-12 years to pay back. For destination wellness hotels, the spa drives bookings more than the bed does.
