Smart room technology
A hotel room fitted with connected automated technology: adaptive lighting, voice control, motorised blinds, smart thermostat, interactive mirror, TV with guest login, central control tablet. Marriott prototyped an Internet of Things Hotel Room in 2017, Hilton has run Connected Rooms since 2018, and premium brands (Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis) now standardise on Lutron HomeWorks or Crestron systems. Equipping a premium room with full smart tech costs EUR 8,000 to 25,000, which HVS analysis shows is recouped through a EUR 15 to 30 per night uplift in average daily rate. The technology is now expected at the upper-upscale tier, not a differentiator.
