The Ritz (London)

The Ritz is a palace hotel at 150 Piccadilly in London, opened on 25 May 1906 by Swiss hotelier César Ritz, former manager of the Savoy, eight years after the Ritz Paris. The neoclassical Louis XVI building was designed by architects Charles Mewès and Arthur Davis. Its lasting association with refinement gave English the adjective ritzy, meaning ostentatiously stylish and elegant.
