Variation

A danced solo within a ballet, which showcases the technique and personality of a single performer. In the grand pas de deux, two variations follow the adagio, giving each dancer a moment of individual brilliance. The variation concentrates jumps, turns and brilliant steps into a finely chiselled demonstration. These virtuoso solos are highlights of the ballets proposed to palace guests, distilling a dancer's artistry into a brief, dazzling display.
