Vieux Carré

The Vieux Carré refers to a New Orleans cocktail combining rye whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine and two bitters, stirred and served over ice. It was created in 1938 by bartender Walter Bergeron at the Carousel Bar of the Hotel Monteleone, and takes its name from the city's French Quarter. It ranks among The Unforgettables of the International Bartenders Association manual.
