Wellness space

Wellness space describes the full spa zone of a luxury hotel, not just the treatment rooms, but the entire architectural and sensory journey: thermal pools, relaxation lounges, hammam and onsen circuits, vitality showers, meditation pavilions, ice fountains. The modern luxury spa is a building inside a building, sometimes 2,000-3,000 square meters of just wellness. Six Senses is famous for theirs, as are Aman, COMO Shambhala, Chiva-Som in Thailand, and Lanserhof Tegernsee in Germany. The architecture matters, Peter Marino, Patricia Urquiola and John Heah have designed signature wellness spaces. For destination spa hotels, the wellness footprint is often bigger than the actual room footprint.
